Head of Communications at Uppsala Monitoring Centre

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a foundation set up in 1978 with the aim of improving medicines safety worldwide. In its role as a Collaborating Centre to the World Health Organization (WHO) UMC manages the technical and scientific operations of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring, which was set up after the thalidomide disaster in the 1960s.

Today UMC is a centre for international service and scientific research in pharmacovigilance. Their priorities are the safety of patients through the safe and effective use of medicines in every part of the world.

UMC meets these priorities through innovative research and development, and by providing data, reference, consultative and training resources to medicines regulatory agencies, health professionals, researchers and the pharmaceutical industry all over the world. With a track record of several decades, they are a reliable partner for the wide range of users of their high quality products and services.

UMC's Vision is to improve worldwide patient safety and welfare by reducing the risk of medicines.
